We offer two taping courses at K.A.T. in the fall and in the spring. No courses are offered in the summer due to holidays, cottage life, sporting events, and "people just want to be outside" etc during the weekends.

Basic Sports Injury Management & Taping Course
(established in 2010)
This course is designed to educate Student Therapists, Trainers, Coaches, Parents & Teachers in the basic management of sports injuries and in properly dealing with emergency situations often found at sporting events. This certification requires the attendance and completion of the 8hr course given by one of our Certified Athletic Therapists. This course does not grant an individual the title of Athletic Therapist, Athletic Trainer, Physio, or any other healthcare professional. It also does not certify a person in First-Aid & CPR or Sports First Responder. It is designed to provide an individual with a Certification of Completion in Basic Sports Injury Management and Taping for educational and safety purposes only. Re-certification is recommended on a bi-annual basis.
-The Scope of Practice of an Athletic Therapist (understanding who we are as professionals)
-Safety Protocol & Proper Preparation for emergency situations
-Basic review of Gross Anatomy
-Injury Prevention & Types of Injuries commonly found in sport
-Sports Injury Management procedures
-Equipment Overview (mainly in hockey, lacrosse, football and rugby)
-Basic Nutrition & Stretching Overview

Advanced Taping Techniques Course (NEW AS OF 2014!)
This course is a continuation from our Basic SIM Course. Again, it is designed to educate Student Therapists, Trainers, Coaches, Parents & Teachers, as well as other Healthcare Practitioners who are interested in learning about advanced taping techniques of sports injuries. This certification requires the attendance and completion of the 8hr course given by one of our Certified Athletic Therapists. It is recommended, but not required, that participants complete our Basic Sports Injury Management and Taping Course within the last 2yrs or have previous taping experience either from a university, college, hockey trainers course, etc due to the overwhelming amount of information and practical skills involved in this course. This certification does not grant an individual the title of Athletic Therapist, Athletic Trainer, Physio, or any other healthcare professional. It also does not certify a person in First-Aid & CPR, or Sports First Responder. It is designed to provide you with a Certification of Completion in Advanced Taping Techniques for educational and safety purposes only. Re-certification is recommended on a bi-annual basis.

-Shoulder (A/C Joint and Glenohumeral Wrap)

-Understanding Kinesiotape (discussion only, no techniques will be taught)
