Shockwave Therapy

Keller Athletic Therapy is excited to announce that we now provide Shockwave Therapy as part of our rehab services.  Shockwaves are acoustic waves with an extremely high energy peak similar to that generated in a lightning strike or a sonic boom.  These sound waves cause an inflammatory response in the tissue which in turn results in the development of new blood vessels to assist with the overall healing process. A shockwave differs from ultrasound by its extremely large pressure amplitude and single pulse.  This form of treatment accelerates the healing of many chronic bone, joint and soft tissue pain.

Examples of chronic conditions that can be treated by SWT (75-95% success rate):

- Scar Tissue

- Plantar Fasciitis

- Achilles Tendinopathy or any Chronic Tendinopathies

- Calcific Rotator Cuff Tendinitis

- Tennis/Golfer's Elbow

- ITB Friction Syndrome

- Runner's or Jumper's Knee

- Stress Fractures

- Heel Spurs

It is recommended to have at least 3-5 treatments of Shockwave Therapy for a particular condition in order to achieve the best results. The session will last 40mins which includes 4min of SWT and then hands-on Athletic Therapy for the remainder of the treatment.

Coverage for SWT is available with most private insurance companies.
